Hamburg City Man - ITU World Cup and triathlon for amateurs - is preparing for the rehearsal of the 2007 Hamburg ITU Triathlon World Championships.
With a capacity of maximum 8,400 participants the Hamburg City Man aims for being the world’s largest triathlon. On September 7, 2006 a triathlon for pupils will take place with 1,800 kids between the age of 8 and 18. On September 9 and 10, 2006 in total 6,600 age grouper or amateurs will be expected, who compete across the Sprint and Olympic Distance. Four days after the registration start already 2.000 slots were sold.
The theme of this years Hamburg City Man is “Test the course” - test the course of the ITU Hamburg Triathlon World Championships 2007.
The course for age group athletes crosses Hamburg’s most beautiful streets and squares: From the swim stadium “Binnenalster” in the heart of the city with the swim exit right in front of the town hall, the bike course leads to the Reeperbahn and the Elbchaussee - Hamburg’s magnificent street along the river “Elbe” - and finally ends with the running course around the “Außenalster” with a spectacular finish in front of thousands of spectators again on the town hall square. Last year 260,000 viewers cheered enthusiastically for the athletes and their performance.
