Don has won three World Cups this year and now has his sights set on a strong performance in the ITU world triathlon championships on Sunday.
Paulo Miyashiro won Brazil’s second medal of the night with his third place in the men’s race.
Conditions in this nighttime race were hot and steamy with the air temperature 30 degrees and the water 25 degrees.
In a first for the sport the race was conducted under floodlights with athletes racing a 3.3km run, followed by a 1 km swim and then a 1.6km run.
