A demanding event held at an altitude of 2000m and over hilly terrain.  The close proximity of the venue to a good tar road for the cycle section.  A central location for all aspects of the event for spectators and athletes alike.  The cycle and run courses will consist of multi laps through the Hotel complex which adds to spectator interest and involvement. 

The media has been reporting on Zimbabwe experiencing a cholera outbreak ongoing since February 2023 which is being managed by the Public Health Authorities. It is important to note that the outbreak is localized to areas where access to clean water is a problem leading to communities suffering poor sanitation and hygiene conditions.  The location of the Africa Triathlon Cup at Troutbeck Inn Resort in Nyanga is NOT an area affected by the outbreak and poses no risk of cholera to participants and supporters who plan on traveling to the event in February 2024.


SWIM -
Water Temperature - expect 20 degrees
Laps - Sprint - 1 x 750m lap
Start Mechanism - Deep water
Conditions - Lake - clean, disease and animal free

BIKE -
Laps - Sprint - 3 x 6.6km laps - hilly and technical.  No requirement for gear/cassette changes.  16% gradient.  Road closures.

RUN -
Laps - Sprint - 2 x 2.5km laps - hilly, 19% gradient, 90% pavement, 10% grass

**  VISAS AND TRAVEL

It is the athlete’s responsibility to check if a visa is required for entry into Zimbabwe.  Visas should be obtained well in advance of your departure from your home country.  Check to establish if you can apply online or if you have to submit documents to the Embassy in your home country.  This is very important so as to avoid any delays on arrival at Harare International Airport and subsequent departure of the transfer to Troutbeck Resort.  If you are in any doubt please contact LOC for assistance.

Early arrivals in Harare on Wednesday 14 February - overnight stay at MONOMATAPA HOTEL in Harare will be necessary (for athletes account)

It is RECOMMENDED that all flights booked MUST arrive by 1300 on THURSDAY 15 FEBRUARY and departures on SUNDAY 18 FEBRUARY.  For departures on MONDAY 19 FEBRUARY an OVERNIGHT STAY in Harare WILL BE NECESSARY

Local Transportation

FREE bus transfers from Harare airport to venue on Thursday 15 FEBRUARY - Return from venue to Harare International Airport on Sunday 18 FEBRUARY.  Expect a 3-4 hour journey by road to venue.  Bikes are transported in secure, closed trucks and travel in convoy with the transfer coach to venue.  Return transfer will depart very early from venue on SUNDAY 18 FEBRUARY - Athlete Liaison Catherine Jennings will confirm departure time.

Option 2 - BLUE SWALLOW TIMESHARE UNITS – FULL BOARD

COST PER PERSON: USD 350

This cost Includes free transfer from Harare to Troutbeck return, refreshments on the transfer bus to Troutbeck, 3 nights shared accommodation in the timeshare units on site at the venue, all meals from Thursday dinner to Sunday breakfast inclusive of mid-morning and mid-afternoon tea, unlimited bottled water and bottled fruit juice, Awards Dinner in the hotel on Saturday night and packed snack for bus transfer to Harare on Sunday.  The Blue Swallow Timeshare Units are situated on site at the race venue.  This is a more cost-effective arrangement for accommodation.  Elite and Junior Athletes from all countries will be accommodated in separate Male / Female unit.

Coaches/Managers may also make use of this option but will have to also share with other Male or Female Coaches/Managers in gender specific units.

Each unit sleeps 5 people (can accommodate up to a maximum of 8 people but the 3 extra would have to sleep on mattresses).  There is 1 double bed room and 2 twin bedded rooms in each unit

CATERING IS CARRIED OUT BY OUR DEDICATED SERVICE PROVIDER JENS KITCHEN.  SPACES ARE LIMITED TO PLEASE BOOK EARLY.  SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS MUST BE CONFIRMED 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL.  PLEASE INFORM LOC ADMINISTRATOR.
