The 2025 Africa Triathlon – World Triathlon Development Regional Camps in Saly, Senegal (6–9 November) and Kilifi, Kenya (19–22 November) successfully provided emerging athletes across Africa with training, assessments, and development opportunities. Both camps helped athletes prepare for upcoming races as well as the 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), supporting long-term involvement and progression in the sport of triathlon for Africa.
2025 Saly OS - Africa Triathlon - World Triathlon Development Regional Camp
The Saly OS Camp brought together 27 young athletes from 8 African nations: BEN, TUN, ALG, SEN, MAR, GUI, NIG, and SEL. The camp also welcomed special guest NF President, Boubacar Gaye, highlighting the event’s importance for African triathlon development.
Over four days, athletes put their skills to the test with swim, bike, run, and transition sessions, while also checking in on their fitness, technique, and mental game. The program focused on motivation, commitment, and performance readiness, supporting athletes in their preparation for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG).
Coaches worked closely with facilitators to identify key areas for improvement and develop interventions that could be sustained post-camp, ensuring athletes could continue their progression beyond the training environment in Saly.

2025 Kilifi OS - Africa Triathlon - World Triathlon Development Regional Camp
Following Saly, the Kilifi Development Camp took place in Kilifi, Kenya, from 19–22 November, ahead of the 2025 World Triathlon Development Regional Cup Kilifi (22–23 November).
The Kilifi camp formed a critical part of the Dakar 2026 eligibility pathway, bringing together athletes preparing for a major weekend of racing and further regional development opportunities. Building on the success of the Africa Triathlon and Duathlon Cups held in October, the camp provided targeted support to athletes in swim, bike, run, and transition skills, as well as physiological and psychological development.
Athletes and coaches used the camp to benchmark performance, identify key focus areas, and refine preparation strategies in advance of the Development Regional Cup and future international events.

Supporting Africa’s Emerging Triathlon Talent
Camps of this type are designed by World Triathlon Development to complement athletes' current training programs, while also introducing more complex training and racing skills to help prepare athletes and promote long-term high-performance pathways.
These camps support the next generation of Africa Triathlon athletes and will equip them for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, if selected and further major competitions.
World Triathlon Development and Africa Triathlon look forward to continuing to support emerging talent across the continent, fostering skills, resilience, and competitive readiness for future international success.
